On September 26-27, EU4Justice, in collaboration with the EWMI INL-funded project, successfully hosted a pivotal two-day roundtable with members of the High Judicial Council (HJC) and judges. The event focused on identifying and discussing strategic issues to be incorporated into the draft HJC Strategic Plan for 2025-2027, which was elaborated and presented during the sessions.

The roundtable brought together a diverse group of participants, including acting chairs of courts, the Chair of the Supreme Court, HJC members, and the Council’s administrative staff. This broad representation ensured a comprehensive dialogue, capturing a wide range of perspectives from the judiciary.

Key discussions centered on identifying the most pressing needs and challenges facing the HJC in the coming years. Participants engaged in in-depth exchanges on critical topics such as management, transparency and accountability, evaluation and career development of judges, and judicial efficiency. The roundtable also provided an opportunity to explore how these strategic priorities could be effectively integrated into the Council’s broader agenda.

This activity played a crucial role in facilitating an open and constructive dialogue among judicial stakeholders. The diverse input gathered during the event contributed valuable insights, which will inform the finalization of the HJC Strategic Plan 2025-2027. This ensures that the plan aligns with the needs of the judiciary and supports the broader goals of justice sector reform.
