Between 5 and 13 March, the Project organized a Short-Term Expert (STE) mission. The purpose of this mission was to carry out field visits to district and appeal courts in Albania, as well as to conduct interviews with judges, court chairs, and chancellors. The mission team, consisting of the STE – a retired French judge – and C1 experts, visited a total of 11 courts and held meetings with judges and administrative staff.
During the mission, the team visited the 1st Instance Court of General Jurisdiction (GJ) of Kukes, Shkodra, Lezha, Durres, Elbasan, Fier, and Gjirokastra. The Project’s experts visited the Lushnja 1st Instance Administrative Court.
Also, the mission team visited four courts in Tirana: the 1st Instance Court of General Jurisdiction, the 1st Instance Administrative Court, the Courts of Appeal of General Jurisdiction, and the Administrative Court of Appeal. Observations and findings from these visits, as well as feedback gathered in the meetings, will be used to identify challenges and needs that may affect the implementation process of the new judicial map in Albania.
