On November 12, 2024, the High Prosecutorial Council, with the support of the EU4Justice Project, hosted a forum for media representatives. This highly anticipated open event provided an opportunity for media to engage with the institution regarding communication, which promotes transparency, mutual understanding, and enhances communication between the Council and the media.
The project’s expertise was instrumental in facilitating these discussions. Legal experts presented the main principles of communication between the HPC and the media, adhering to EU standards. They also discussed the current Regulation in force, ‘On Communication of the High Prosecutorial Council with the Media’.
The forum covered a range of essential topics, including the accuracy of information, access to information, methods of providing information to the media, regular information during proceedings, privacy protection, the right of correction or reply, admission of journalists, access to journalists during plenary meetings, and more.
The Media Forum marks a significant step in fostering open communication between the Council and the media. Continuing this level of engagement will enable the correction of misinformation and misunderstandings, contributing to the overall transparency of the Council. Participants emphasized the importance of establishing a professional and respectful relationship, which will create a more collaborative and inclusive environment between the HPC and the media.
